the people
The City of Winnipeg required a rapid-response solution to address urgent community needs and enhance emergency services capacity. f-BLOK worked closely with the City to deliver a modular fire paramedic station that meets strict operational requirements while responding to an accelerated timeline. Through close coordination and a clear understanding of firehall operations, the design prioritizes functionality, safety, and accessibility for first responders and staff.
Led by f-BLOK as prime consultant, the project team guided architectural design and coordinated structural, mechanical, and electrical services, while managing code compliance, permitting, and modular fabrication oversight. Working collaboratively with the City and project partners, the team ensured seamless integration from off-site construction through on-site installation. This coordinated effort supports the people who rely on the facility every day, providing efficient, safe, and accessible spaces for emergency response operations.
the result
The 4,000 ft2 modular fire paramedic station delivers a high-performance, fully operational facility within a fast-tracked construction schedule. Installed on a prepared foundation, the building enhances emergency response capabilities while efficiently utilizing its 1-acre site. Designed for durability, adaptability, and long-term performance, the facility integrates operational, administrative, and staff spaces into a compact and efficient layout.
To achieve these objectives, the project emphasized speed of delivery, operational efficiency, and environmental responsibility. The modular approach enabled rapid deployment without compromising quality or performance.
Key features include:
Vehicle bays designed to support emergency apparatus and rapid deployment
Staff accommodations, administrative offices, and operational support spaces
Modular construction enabling off-site fabrication, testing, and efficient on-site installation
Full site development including foundation, utilities, and essential infrastructure
Code-compliant design aligned with the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA)
Energy-efficient systems and responsible material selection to reduce environmental impact
Optimized site layout supporting vehicle movement, access, and operational flow
Delivery of operation and maintenance manuals, along with system training for long-term functionality
The result is a resilient, efficient, and quickly deployable emergency services facility that strengthens the City of Winnipeg’s response capacity. By combining modular innovation with thoughtful design, the firehall supports first responders while meeting the demands of a growing community.
